Keynote Address: Douglas Smith, PhD
Dr. Smith is the Scientific Director of the Big 10/ Ivy league Collaboration on Concussion and he also serves as a member on the Scientific Advisory Boards of the US National Football League (NFL), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)-DoD “CARE” consortium on concussion and the International Concussion Society.
Spotlight: Meifan "Amy" Chen, PhD
Dr. Chen is an Assistant Professor of Neuroscience and core faculty of the Spinal Cord & Brain Injury Research Center at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Chen studies astrocyte functions and regulation in CNS focal injuries, in order to develop astrocyte-based strategies for neural repair.
Spotlight: Jillian Urban, PhD, MPH
Dr. Urban is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Wake Forest University informing evidence-based recommendations to reduce head impact exposure and improve sport safety in youth populations. Dr. Urban combines injury biomechanics and public health perspectives to contextualize analyses of on-field biomechanical data from head-impact sensors toward understanding factors influencing head impact exposure in sports.
