Aphasia Research Study

Laying the Groundwork for Personalized Medicine in Aphasia Therapy: Genetic and Cognitive Predictors of Restorative Treatment Response

We are recruiting adults aged 18-85 who experienced a left-sided stroke at least 6 months ago and now have language difficulties, also called aphasia.

Participation is about 6 months total. Participants will complete 2.5 months of activities (including assessments of thinking, speaking, and listening, as well as speech therapy) and 2 follow-up visits after a 3-month break. This study is primarily virtual, but requires some in-person visits to OSU. These will include 2 MRI brain scans and a saliva sample. Participants will be compensated for each session and can receive $100 or a 3D print of their brain for completing the second MRI scan.
