Your OSU Beginning/professional role?
I am a first-generation college graduate of the University of Toledo. I  joined OSU in 1997 as a staff speech-language pathologist at Dodd Hall on the traumatic brain injury team. I truly found my passion for working with this population alongside a talented group of medical professionals. I remember telling myself that I loved the job so much that I was never going to leave! 28 years later, I am still here.

What do you study & why?
In 2012, I joined the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences and now work as a Clinical Associate Professor.  My area of expertise is adult cognitive-communication disorders due to acquired brain injury. I also run clinics that are an educational environment for students in speech pathology and other health sciences professions, called the OSU Aphasia Initiative and OSU Braincare.  I am interested in the effectiveness of group treatment programs, service-learning, and interprofessional practice & education. Survivors of brain injury are often dealing with life-long consequences. My work aims to provide services to people in the chronic stages of recovery and also provide a rich learning environment for our students.

What should people know about your research?
My work focuses on improving communication and quality of life for individuals with acquired brain injuries while also training the next generation of healthcare professionals. What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I like to be with my family, garden, travel, and learn new things
